A pair of Italian earrings, late 19th c. Pietra dura.
About the Item
These earrings are made with the decorative technique Pietra Dura, low grade gold and silver. Pietra Dura is the art of carving stones, and in this case the decorative stone pieces show beautiful birds in the colors of white, green, blue and orange, sitting on a small branch. To keep the earrings in place a "post" is used as back style, meaning they have ear wires with ear nuts.
When looking closely you can see the carved colored stone pices and how they are gently put together. These colorful earrings would be perfect for any occasion including at the office.
