UNHEATED ORANGE Sapphire, 1.33ct, Madagascar (No Treatment at all)
About the Item
Nice 1.33ct Orange UNHEATED Sapphire, not a common color! Origin is Madagascar which has perhaps surpassed Sri Lanka (Ceylon) in production of Sapphires of all colors! Many gemstones come from this country/island, as it was once part of Africa and these similar gemstones are found on the mainland/Africa also.
This particular gemstone was not heated - most Sapphires/Rubies are heated to improve color and clarity; other gemstones typically heated are Aquamarine, Tanzanite, Tourmaline as well as many others. This particular gemstone is unique due to NOT being heated and the color is not common. A similar (but typically brighter) color can be produced during the heat process if Berylium is present, and usually in the form or minerals or gemstones such as Chrysoberyl. In this case, the color of this Sapphire is natural, with NO treatment what so ever. Unheated Sapphire and Ruby have premiums. For those heated gemstones, which in the case of Ruby and Sapphire and some statistics say that 99% are heated, heat shouldn't be considered a negative.
There are some purists/collectors who would desire a non-heated gem over a heated gem. As noted above, this sparkly gem is NOT Heated and there are NO Enhancements associated with this piece as noted by our associate we purchased it from. We have done business with him for about 20 years or so.
This gemstone would make a great piece for a man or a woman - and could be made into a ring or pendant.
We have done a screen grab of results found via Google regarding the normal heating of Sapphire - see image in photos. As noted, above and in the screen grab photo, 99% of Corundum (Corundum = Sapphire & Ruby) is Heated. We have a large number of Unheated Sapphires and Rubies -
we don't play favorites - if the the gemstone has everything going for it and it is heated, it is still very much worth the purchase; if Unheated, it is just an added plus!
