Antique 1790 Chatelaine Miniature Landscape Painting Mother Of Metal Beads Hair
About the Item
This rare châtelaine with a delicate landscape miniature painting mounted as a slide was made around 1785/90. The oval brass slide with a beaded edge contains a miniature painting depicting a village scene. The reverse of the miniature is decorated with an engraved mother of pearl plaque. The slide is fixed onto braided cotton thread and decorated with flower rosettes made out of carved mother of pearl ad gilt metal beads.
