Chaumet - Master Jewellers Since 1780 by Diana Scarisbrick (Book)

About the Item

A beautiful hard back book minus presentation clamshell box, which covers the history of the famous jewellery house of Chaumet. Starting in 1780 when the firm was known as Nitot & fils and at that time they were favoured with many imperial commissions from Napoleon and the Empress Josephine as well as from other Royal houses around Europe. The history is followed through the 19th century and into the 20th century and it was during this time in the late 19th century when the name changed to Chaumet. In the early 20th century it was the new fortunes being made in America together with the Indian Maharajas who bought many of the fabulous jewels that they made. The author has been able to make use of the firms vast archive of records and drawings and has written a fascinating history of one of the great jewellers. 366 pages with text in English and beautiful colour photographs throughout.
