RARE ITEM OF THE WIENER WERKSTAETTE (WW): ART DECO NECKLACE / MICRO BEADED Stunning elegance ! This finest Art Deco necklace consists of various multicolored micro glass pearls, shaded in moss green, white and red. The ends of the necklace are decorated with balls made of bone to which pendants with tiny glass pearls are attached. MADE CIRCA 1925 SIZE: total length: 130 cm (= 51.18 inches) WEIGHT: 44.0 grams (= 1.54 oz / UK) MADE BY: - WW / Wiener Werkstaette The Wiener Werkstaette (in English: Vienna Workshop), established in 1903 by Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffmann, was a production community of visual artists in Vienna, Austria bringing together architects, artists and designers working in ceramics, fashion, silver, furniture and the graphic arts. It is regarded as a pioneer of modern design, and its influence can be seen in later styles such as Bauhaus and Art Deco. [WIKIPEDIA] ATTRIBUTED TO: Max Snischek (1891 - 1958) He studied at Viennese School of Arts and Crafts. Snischek directed the fashion department of Wiener Werkstaette / Vienna Workshop as from the year 1922. OR Maria Likarz (1893 - 1971) She studied at the School of Arts for Women first, as from 1908 until 1910. In a second step, Likarz was at the Viennese School of Arts and Crafts, taught by Josef Hoffmann and Anton Kenner as from 1910 until 1914. Likarz was active as designer on behalf of Wiener Werkstaette in periods 1912 until 1914 and 1920 until 1931 when the Wiener Werkstaette was closed. As from year 1931 she was an independent artist, having shown her works in various exhibitions. Finally, Likarz moved to Italy in 1938 where she specialized on the creation of ceramics.
