About the Item
Fabulously fresh and exceptional multi strand faux pearl and cut rhinestone necklace with a snake head and snake tail at the other end designed by C & T in the 1950's
The snake head, tail and 2 fasteners made of cognac colored cut rhinestones are applied to a brass mold. All these pieces are signed Coppola & Toppo Mode in Italy.
A very exceptional piece from C & T. A snake bracelet is illustrated on page 109 of 'FASHION JEWELS COPOLA & TOPPO' by Deanna Farneti Cera
Measurement: Length 42 cm shortest row plus 6 cm extender,
Width of the 4 row chain is 4 cm - the snake hat about 8 cm long, 3 cm width
About the designer:
Coppola e Toppo was foundet in the late 1940s by Milanese siblings Bruno Coppola and Lydia Toppo. The brand took off in the 1960s when Christian Dior commissioned runway pieces from the. From the 1950s to 1970s, Coppola e Toppo enjoyed great success through its brand collections both inEuropa and in the United States. They also collaborated with many other fashion houses and designers, inclluding Balenciaga, Valentiono, Emilio Pucci, Elsa Schiaparelli, Yves Saint Laurent and Roberta. Their work is distinctly elegant, elaborate and bold, masterfully mixing glass and crystal beads with Swarovski crystal and Lucite.
