About the Item
An exquisitely detailed scrimshaw depicting a tall ship is the focal point of this unique pocket watch Sailor’s Valentine. This magnificent ship is surrounded by a painstaking arrangement of the most miniature shells in black & white and ruby red. A whimsical chain of chunky ruby nuggets with hand-coiled loops and black onyx rondelles are interspersed with whimsical hand-linked ivory freshwater stick pearls. The natural aging process of this antique watch case has happily created a blackened finish which is de rigueur this season; while amulets of petal pearls, ruby briolette and 24k gold vermeil seahorse carry out the lure of the sea .
