Tiffany & Co.'s 1837 collection proudly celebrates the year of Tiffany's opening with a line of jewelry inscribed with "T & Co," "1837" and "925" (the numerical inscription for sterling silver). The pendant features these marks on both sides, so that no matter which way you turn it, the 1837 Tiffany & Co marks are visible. The outside of edge of the pendant is slightly concave, and it measures 1" in diameter and 1/8" thick. This gold book chain from the Victorian era (ca1880) is quite an outstanding piece! English in origin, it is hand crafted in vibrant 15ct yellow gold and has a wonderful Etruscan wirework motif applied to the surface. The design is comprised of interlocking panel links, each connected with smooth gold rings at the top and bottom. The Etruscan wirework and beadwork pattern gives wonderful depth and texture to the design, while the reverse side of the piece is left smooth. A removable gold spring ring clasp rests at the center, allowing a complimentary pendant or locket to be attached to the center if desired. At the back fo the necklace is a push clasp disguised within one of the links, and two gold safety latches provide extra security when worn. The underside of the clasp is hallmarked "15CT."
