About the Item
Developed around the 1770s, alongside the invention of pocket watches, fobs were worn by both men and women, attached at the waist or to a belt originally. Their popularity continued throughout the 19th century and gradually became a fashion accessory for women worn with a watch or as a necklace or a bracelet.
This stunning English 9 karat watch fob chain necklace is from the Victorian era c. 1880. The detail on the gold chain is etched and facets on each link to give it a sparkle. The length is 16 3/4" but the length can be extended. This style is very popular now to layer with other chains or maybe a diamond necklace.
