Angels have played an important role in works of art throughout history and have been an especially important subject for both Byzantine and European paintings and sculpture. In Christianity, there are a significant few of the highest-ranking angels, which are known as “archangels.” Coming from the Greek language, meaning “chief angel,” archangels each have a special purpose to fulfil on earth. Archangel Michael, also known as St. Michael, the great defender and protector, is depicted in this lovely, sterling silver pendant.
A figural, halo-adorned St. Michael with outstretched wings, is suspended from a finely-made, sterling silver rolo chain. This necklace is also available in 14 karat gold, as well as a sterling silver and gold combination.
