About the Item

A must for every jewellery collection, the classic fob chain. This one is an original bearing all the hallmarks of an early English piece in 15 karat gold, which is indeed rare. 15 karat gold was discontinued in England in 1932 so this piece dates back before then. Prior to 1932 this was the standard high karat gold for Commonwealth jewellery, it has a lovely deep rich gold colour which softens over the years to a copperish, rosy tone. This lovely chain features open style curb links continuing to a dog clip and T Bar. All pieces are original to the chain and bear the same hallmarking. Each link is stamped 15 .625 which indicates 62.5% gold for 15 karat. The dog clip and larger bolt ring clasp give the necklace a variety of ways which it can be worn, it can be linked into another chain to make it longer as the T-Bar section can be removed completely. It can be worn simply on its own or you could add charms to the clasp. The chain also has an extra large jump ring which hangs loosely on the chain so you could add charms to that link as well.
