Antique Silver Book Chain Necklace, Victorian Collar
About the Item
No antique jewellery collection is complete without an antique silver book chain necklace.
These are such versatile pieces of jewellery and are as wearable today as they were back in the Victorian era, rising to popularity in the Aesthetic era where beauty was championed for beauties sake.
Made from sterling silver this chain has lovely pierced oval links adjoined by fancy links and it fastens with a dog clip fastener, the links lay fairly flat to the neck and decolletage.
This one is a good length and your favourite pendant or locket could be added by attaching to the dog clip.
The fastener is a replacement of a similar era, usually they fasten with a large antique spring ring.
A pretty piece that works well with many outfit choices, she will be your go to necklace for any occasion!

Unmarked, tests as sterling silver, c1880s, Victorian era.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some light surface wear and patina commensurate with age, a few small dings to some Links, dog clip fastener is a replacement.
