Fred Davis Sterling Silver and Amethyst Necklace
About the Item
This silver and amethyst circles necklace by Fred Davis is one of his iconic designs. What makes this example stand out is the exceptional size. It is much larger than the standard. Each round disc is 1 1/2 inches in diameter making for a very dramatic and imposing necklace. It is 23 1/2 inches in length.
The necklace was made in the 1940's. The work of Fred Davis is included in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and has been written about extensively by scholar Penny Morrill in her books about Mexican silver.
It is not an exact match but the Davis bracelet listed as item LU1337004042
makes a wonderful companion piece.
