About the Item

Vintage Master of Acrylic jewelry JUDITH HENDLER has produced very little new jewelry since her heydey as the nation's top designer of glamorous space age acrylic LUCITE jewelry in the 1980's. There have been several events, museum exhibitions, and conventions that Judith has created some new designs for, as commemorative pieces reflecting a moment in new times for this storied and highly respected jewelry designer. I, Matt Burkholz, of Route 66 WEST will be offering a variety of these more recently designed and created items here on 1stdibs over this summer season. Watch here for classic, (but newer) neck ring necklaces with geometric pendants as well as oversized drop earrings, stretch bracelets AND in very limited numbers and designs. None of these are ever to be made again. Offered here is a large chunky acrylic geometric pendant, suspended from a classic circular thin gage acrylic neck ring, for a clean, highly modern sculptural necklace statement. This pendant is 2 piece: a diagonally sliced .40" section with an inner suspended faceted diamond shaped polished acrylic element. It hangs from the neck ring attached by screw eyes drilled and embedded in the material. It is 4" long and 2.66" wide in total measurement. The closure: an O ring on top and C ring on the bottom is always worn on the wearer's left for easy on and off and total security. This neck ring has been hand inscribed by the artist with the copyright symbol, and was dated in 2016, although probably made between 2 and 3 years ago, and no longer being produced. It is approximately 6" wide and 6" tall, and this one fits small medium and large necked women. Sometimes vintage pieces have a later date than their manufacture as well, if they are hand signed this way, as Judith sometimes dated things upon receiving them from customers for attribution and an added signature, as the pieces made in the 70s and 80s were not signed in the period. Constructed of a variety of vintage as well as new materials, the iconic Hendler style is clearly evident. Geometry at work in clean linear style make for a stunning statement.
