The delicate colors and finely wrought details on this three-jewel set would make anyone swoon. The Multi-Colored Sapphire Diamond Earrings and Necklace Demi-Parure Suite are made in the 21st century, circa the 2010s. The suite is comprised of two distinct yet stylistically related pieces—a necklace and a pair of button earrings—magnificently crafted in 18K yellow gold and set with round brilliant-cut diamonds with an estimated total weight of 4.49 carats and pear-shape colored sapphire with an estimated total weight of 18.68 carats. Both necklace and earrings feature a lovely floral motif reminiscent of 16th-century rosettes but updated with a contemporary flair. The button earrings, designed for pierced ears, and outfitted with posts and French clips, depict a pair of 6-petal flowers represented by pear-shaped colored sapphire in yellow, green, and violet, outlined in yellow gold bezels. The warm, sunny settings are open to the back, allowing a second set of larger petals arranged directly underneath to sparkle through the colorful stones. These secondary petals dazzle in yellow gold, pavé-set with sparkling white diamonds, and give the colored sapphire ethereal qualities. The floral centers feature pear-shaped pink-purple sapphires with points upward set with four gold button prongs and backed with gold. The pear-shaped cut exquisitely showcases the various colors, adding a little sparkle. There are an estimated 2.94 carats total of diamonds and 12.53 carats total of sapphires in the earrings. The necklace, which includes the chain, likewise depicts a 6-petal flower with similar design details to the earrings yet arranged differently. Like the earrings, there are pear-shaped colored sapphire, a bezel set in the same way, and overlaying yellow gold petals pavé-set with smaller sparkling white diamonds. The difference is that the six diamond petals are turned a few degrees to fall perfectly in between the petals rather than directly underneath. This creates a nice variation on a theme where we can study all the colors afresh. Sapphire is generally known as a blue gemstone, but surprisingly it comes in a wide range of color variations. Sapphires, not blue, are known as fancy sapphires and may be any color—except red (a ruby). The fancy sapphire colors are pink, orange, yellow, green, purple, and violet. There are an estimated 1.55 carats total of diamonds and 6.15 carats total of sapphires in the pendant. Pendant: 6.15 carats of sapphires with 1.55 carats of diamonds; chain included, 17" long (42cm). Earrings: 12.53 carats of sapphires with 2.94 carats of diamonds; for pierced ears, 1 x 1 inch (2.5 x 2.5cm). Overall weight approx. 25.34 grams, made in 18K yellow gold, circa 2010s.
