Antique Empire Wedding Necklace 18 K Yellow and Rose Gold Enamel Pensez a Moi
About the Item
This rare necklace was handcrafted out of 18 karat gold in 1810 ca. It was worn by a bride and the iconographic language is full of sentimental conotations. The central rectangular element is connected to the two outer rectangular elements by a variety of chains of various sizes. The center element is decorated with sirals made out of gold wire and polished lozenged. The two smaller elements are designed as two lozenges within an outer gold frame. In the center of the lozenges we see blue enamelled frames decorated with tiny quatrefoils alternating with tiny circles.. Inside the blue frames we see flowers painted in different coloured enamels on a gold background. Some of the chains have ornamental links, some are decorated with embossed and enamelled leaves, partially enamelled. Three different pendants are suspended from fine chains.
