About the Item
A very fine antique Victorian gold and carved agate or hard stone cameo clasp for a multi-strand bracelet or necklace.
In rose, yellow, and green golds.
The cameo depicts a double profile of a hermaphroditic man and woman after the Antique.
It is prong set in an ornate 14k rose and yellow gold frame that has leaf work in rose and green golds, yellow gold granulation, and a yellow gold bezel. The frame is bezel set with rubies, turquoise, and seed pearls.
Each side has removable clasps with gold terminals for securing the ends of a bracelet or necklace.
Simply a wonderful carved cameo clasp with amazing Classical subject matter!

Overall Condition:
It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition.
Condition Details:
There are several fissures that appear to be naturally occurring. One runs runs from the man's forehead through the woman's neck, one integrated into the man's nose and lips, and there are several in the head piece. (These are not visible from the reverse. And the reverse has its own natural fissures.) It lacks 2 terminals on the right side of the clasp. Otherwise, there is some edge wear, some very fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
