Victorian Tourmaline, Diamond, Calibrated Turquoise Starburst Pin Pendant

About the Item

A gorgeous and unusual turquoise starburst from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful piece is crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold and has a convertible pin and pendant design. The stunning 5-point star design is convex in shape, and encrusted with natural calibrated Persian turquoise stones which cover the surface of all five arms. Prong set in the center is a blueish green tourmaline disc which has a bezel set diamond riveted into the center. The diamond is an old Mine Cut stone and weighs approximately 0.16ctw. The turquoise is incredibly vibrant, exhibiting breathtaking shades of blue, and the tourmaline and diamond center complete the wonderful and unique design perfectly! On the back of the starburst is a hidden hook bail, making it possible to hang the piece from a chain. Also attached to the back is a detachable pin clasp, which can be easily unscrewed and removed if desired. A magnificent example of Victorian era starburst jewelry, this celestial piece is perfect for the turquoise lover or antique jewelry collector! The pin/pendant measures 1 3/4" in diameter, and is approximately 1/2" at the deepest point of its convex shape. Condition: The overall condition of the pin/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The detachable pin clasp and hidden hook bail are secure and in good working condition. All of the stones are intact and securely set. The tourmaline, diamond and all of the turquoise stones are intact, securely set, and free of chips or scratches.
