About the Item

A large and impressive vintage gemstone cross pendant incorporating 12.80 carat natural sapphires, 7.85 carat natural rubies and 1.00 carat diamonds, in 18 karat yellow gold; part of our diverse vintage jewelry and estate jewelry collections This magnificent, large, vintage cross pendant has been crafted in 18k yellow gold. The symmetrical cross design is ornamented with precious gemstones to both sides in subtly different designs. One side displays twelve colet set natural rubies; four pear cur rubies held in a quatrefoil design to the centre of the cross, with two oval cut rubies to each arm of the cross. The arms of the cross are also ornamented with eight individually colet set modern brilliant round cut diamonds. The other side of this stunning example of 1970's jewelry is embellished with eight natural sapphires, the central four, pear cut stones reflecting the design on the opposite side of the pendant. Each of the arms of the cross on this side however, display a single colet set oval cut sapphire in addition to three individually colet set modern brilliant round cut diamonds. Both sides of the cross are patterned with fine chased scroll and leaf decoration. The broad sides of this impressive pendant are plain and unembellished apart from two simple chased decorated borders. The original gemstone weights and gold fineness are engraved within the borders at the end of one arm: "Rubis 7.85Kts. - Bts. 1.00Kts. Z.Azulres 12.80 Kts. - Oro 18 Kts."* This original vintage cross pendant has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18k gold. The pendant is supplied with two independent diamond grading report cards.
