14K Egyptian Revival Moonstone Pharaoh Cameo & Scrimitar Conversion Necklace
About the Item
Early Egyptian excavations in the 1870's created a demand for Egyptian inspired jewelry all across Europe. In 1922, the discovery of King Tut's tomb strongly influenced jewelry making and motifs throughout the western world. By the early Art Deco era, all things Egyptian were hugely popular.
My goal with conversion pieces like this is to give a new life to vintage jewelry that isn't nearly as wearable in its previous form. This necklace has been crafted from an Art Deco era brooch that features a shimmering moonstone cameo of a pharaoh. The cameo has been intricately carved and the stone has a beautiful iridescence. The pharaoh is accented with an enameled headdress with rose cut diamond accents. This portion rests on a two-toned gold scimitar. From the back you can see that there are six rivets securely holding the components together.
