About the Item

An exceptional antique 0.07 carat diamond and 18 carat yellow gold locket (circa 1920) with 9 carat yellow gold belcher chain (circa 1890). This exceptional, fine and impressive antique French locket has been crafted in 18 ct yellow gold. The locket consists of two circular compartments which open with an unusual twisting motion. The anterior face of the locket has an impressive Art Nouveau style embossed decoration depicting the profile of a lady in period dress. The lady's hat, necklace and wrist are embellished with a total of fourteen pavé set Dutch cut diamonds. The design displays the engraved signature 'Van Der Straeten'. The posterior face is embossed with the image of flowered reeds. Each of the compartments of this antique 1920's locket allow for a photograph to be held within. The locket suspends from a substantial antique circa 1890's 9 ct yellow gold 28" belcher chain via a swivel clasp and ring loop attachment to the upper border of the design. The locket is hallmarked to the clasp with the French hallmark for 18 ct gold (eagle's head). The chain has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 ct yellow gold. This exceptional antique locket is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card. Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds.
