18ct Gold Hardstone Cameo Pendant, circa 1870s
About the Item
A late 19th century 18ct yellow gold and hardstone cameo pendant.
The five-ray star pendant is decorated with graduated spherical accents, featuring a centrally set oval hardstone cameo of a gentleman, and to the reverse is a removable panel (glazing is vacant) displaying a picture of a gentleman.
Both the bale and star pendant are stamped with unattributed continental marks, and the pendant has been tested and confirmed to be 18ct gold fineness.
Period: - Late 19th Century.
Date: - Circa 1870.
Engraving: - Unengraved.
Measurement: - 6.8cm (height including bale) x 4.7cm (width) x 0.8cm (depth not including bale).
Weight: - 9.2 grams.
Condition: - Light surface scratches, and tarnishing to the gold commensurate with age. The hardstone cameo is in good overall condition. The original case is a little worn around the edges, and the case does not close properly. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
