22 Karat Gold Nava Ratna Pendant on Hand-Rolled Gold Chain, India
About the Item
A lovely 22K gold Nava Ratna pendant comprised of precious and semi-precious stones. Fine tooling on the border and reversible to a repousse` floral and vine motif on the other side. The length of the pendant is 2.5 inches and a tumbled emerald dangles from the bottom. The hand-rolled, 22K gold chain has a footing on one side that will unscrew allowing you to change out pendants.
The mythology of the NavaRatna is quite auspicious, royal and sacred to most Asian countries, regardless of differences in culture and religion. It brings balance and benefit to the wearer. The stones relate to deities and celestial bodies. The following is a translation:
1. Ruby for Surya (Sun),
2. Pearl for Chandra (Moon),
3. Red Coral for Mangala (Mars),
4. Emerald for Budha (Mercury),
5. Yellow sapphire for Brhaspati (Jupiter),
6. Diamond for Shukra (Venus),
7. Blue Sapphire for Shani (Saturn),
8. Hessonite for Rahu (the ascending node of the Moon),
9. Cat's Eye for Ketu (the descending note of the Moon).
