They are a collection of ancient Egyptian mummies discovered in the Fayoum region of Egypt. The mummies found in Fayoum were prepared and buried using a distinct method known as the "Fayoum portrait" technique. This technique involved painting lifelike portraits on wooden panels, which were then attached to the mummy wrappings. The portraits were then placed over the face of the mummy, creating a highly personalized and naturalistic representation of the individual. The Fayoum mummy portraits are considered remarkable examples of ancient Egyptian art. Each granule is made by hand then placed very carefully over the metal sheet, the gold sheet is then heated to a certain temperature so that it melts and fuses to the tiny gold granules, if you over melt the gold the whole piece will melt and if you under melt it there'll be no fusion between the gold sheet and the gold granules. Granulation is a technique sensitive process and takes years to master, and its only done these days by very few goldsmiths.
