*RARE* This exquisite necklace showcases an authentic AR tetradrachm coin of Athena, dating back to circa 136/5 B.C., set in 18kt yellow gold. The coin is adorned with lapis and topaz cabochons.
COIN DETAILS:
- Origin: ATTICA, Athens.
- Period: 2nd-1st centuries BC.
- New Style coinage, approximately 136/5 BC.
- Magistrates: Hera-Aristophe and Polych-.
OBVERSE FEATURES:
- Depiction: Head of Athena facing right, adorned with a pendant earring.
- Helmet: Triple-crested Attic helmet with aphlaston decoration.
- Pegasus: A leaping Pegasus is depicted above the helmet's cheek flap.
- Visor: Decorated with proteomes of five horses.
REVERSE FEATURES:
- Inscriptions: A-OE / HPA / API-ETOQ/ MOAYX (magistrates).
- Central Motif: An owl stands facing on an overturned amphora with the letter 'A' denoting the month.
- Additional Symbols: A bow case is placed behind a vertical club, draped with a lion skin in the left field, all encircled by an olive wreath.
