Atocha Yellow Gold Silver Coin Pendant
About the Item
Atocha Two Tone Coin Pendant. The pendant measures 28mm x 43mm (including bail). The coin shows quite a bit of wear, the markings on the coin are not readable and there are no markings on the bezel or coin. The bezel tests as 14 karat yellow gold and the coin is 925 silver. The total gold weight of the pendant is 10.08 grams. There is no paperwork available for this item.
On September 6, 1622 during a raging hurricane near the Florida Keys the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Atocha struck a reef and sank. A team from Treasure Salvors, Inc. lead by Mel Fisher discovered the main wreck site on July 20, 1985 recovering over 160,000 silver Spanish colonial coins.
