Austrian carved agate cameo of Ceres. Magnificent neo classical piece, created in Vienna Austria back in the 1870. It was crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and finished with textured and polished patterns. This piece feature 2 fabulous three-dimensional cameo pieces, carved from natural agate of two layers, with gradations of colors; from translucent orange brown to frosted white. The quality of the carvings are exceptional, with intricate thorough details. for example, the ear and the incised lines of the hair are magnificent. Embellished with applications of black enamel and fitted at the reverse with a hinged horizontal pin to be wear as a brooch and a bale to wear in a chain. Sculptural crucifix designed by Jean Mahie. A beautiful piece of wearable art, created in Paris France by the artist, sculptor and goldsmith Jean Mahie, back in the late 1970's. This rare vintage sculptural cross pendant was carefully crafted in solid rich yellow gold of 22 karats with all the surfaces finished with textured, chiseled and hammered patterns. It is a very interesting piece created from two elements of abstract forms, which are attached together with four ribbets. Jean Mahie, is the result of a wonderfully symbiotic and fruitful partnership between Jacline Mazard and her father-in-law Jean-Marie Mazard. They first began combining their artistic talents in 1969, working from a studio in Mouans-Sartoux in the South of France, and launched their jewellery line the following year. Neither was formally trained and both preferred to work with 22ct gold in order to realise their unique style that embodied primitive form, motifs and techniques. Everything they made was entirely hand crafted with Jacline often drawing inspiration from her memories of growing up near the ancient ruins of Carthage in Tunisia.
