Dutch Early Victorian Rose Cut Diamond 14K Gold and Silver Flower Necklace

At the focal point of this elegant Victorian-era drop necklace are three antique diamonds suspended from a bow and navette shaped bar. The diamonds are Dutch rose cut, with layers of facets cut by hand, making each diamond one-of-a-kind with its own unique way of reflecting light. The largest, bottom diamond appears round, and the diamonds descend in size, with the middle and top diamond taking a more oval shape. The necklace has a 14k gold back and a silver front—a traditional way of mounting jewelry in the Victorian era. The beautiful diamonds rest in a silver backing, so the stones catch the light and reflect it brilliantly. The diamonds are topped by a bow, which contains seven smaller rose-cut diamonds, surrounded by millegrain details that add subtle texture. A transitional bar connects the bow to the teardrop section, and features an eighth diamond set in a navette shaped mount. This mixed-metal piece combines 14k rose gold and silver in the beautiful floral and foliate motif of an open work cone. A rose gold flower dangles in silhouette, surrounded by a frame of silver leaves. At the bottom is a deep purple amethyst, emerald cut and bezel set. When looked at head on, the structure of the cone can be seen through the amethyst, giving an infinity effect as the floral motif is reflected kaleidoscopically within the stone. The fob is circa the Arts and Crafts Movement of the early 1900’s. It is entirely handmade—each element hand sawn, assembled, and hand engraved. A beautiful rose gold and diamond bracelet from the Victorian era. This piece of jewelry features 7 gorgeous rose cut diamonds that are arranged from the center in a descending order. The largest diamond at the center measures 4.9 mm in diameter and the smallest ones, at either end, measure 2.8 mm in diameter. Each diamond is held within 8-pronged, raised buttercup settings that individually conform to the rose cut diamonds and is foil backed. There are some very small dents along the edge of the bracelet, these are age appropriate for a piece that is 130 years old and are only a minor distraction to this pieces beauty. There is a lovely hand-made quality about this piece of jewelry. It has an original bifurcated design and at the center a row of multi faceted diamonds. The silver foil backs of the diamonds give the diamonds a reflective hue that is very romantic and remind us of candle light. The bracelet is in very good condition. Perfect for a 6.5 inch wrist or smaller, it adds a feminine touch to any dress. Tongue and groove clasp with a security chain. Circa the 1870’s, this diamond encrusted arrow has been converted from a pin into a pendant that can be worn in a variety of ways. The arrow contains 32 natural Rose Cut diamonds that vary in shape and size, from round to oblong. Each diamond catches the light in a unique way, and the intricate details of the hand carved antique stones are mesmerizing. The quills of the feather are delineated, with space between each quill that reveals its careful workmanship. The age of this piece and its rustic, handcrafted quality gives it a beautiful naïveté. The arrow is a strong symbol of direction and sacrifice. It brings to mind St. Sebastian and stories of miracles and martyrdom. It can also be worn to represent momentum, movement, and protection. The pendant has a silver front and 14k gold back. We added half-bails to both ends of the pendant so that the arrow can be worn pointing up or down, or could be used as a chain extender. The pendant contains approximately .5 of a carat of diamonds. The 32 natural Rose Cut diamonds range from 2 mm to 1.25 mm. The arrow measures 2 3/16” x 9/16”. It weighs 4.2 grams.
