About the Item
A Fabergé varicoloured gold and moonstone Easter egg pendant, the egg-shaped carved moonstone within a woven rose and green gold cage-work, suspended by gold pendant loop, bearing hallmark for 56 zolotniks, makers mark of workmaster August Hollming, St Petersburg, circa 1900, measuring 1.9 x 1cm, gross weight 2.5 grams.
This antique pendant is in very good condition for its age.
A lovely Easter Egg pendant by Fabergé, made by the workmaster August Hollming. Fabergé was established in St Petersburg in 1842, and by the late nineteenth century, was Russia’s largest and best-known jewellery house. This charming pendant features carved moonstone, a gemstone known for its hypnotic phenomenon, surrounded by carved rose and green gold cage-work, with its sumptuous curves and arresting colours beautifully complementing the egg. This delicate egg pendant comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales would make a splendid addition to an avid Fabergé connoisseur’s collection.
