Fine Highly Translucent Carved Nephrite Pendant & Brooch
About the Item
Uncommonly translucent nephrite jade with exceptionally fine coloring has been skilfully carved into the form of an expressive dragon contained within an oval form.
The 40.56mm x 29.72mm x 2.82mm nephrite is so translucent you can see your finger in shadow behind it. The carving has been beautifully rendered and then polished to a high gloss. The carving resides in a handmade 14k yellow gold frame, secured by 6 sturdy prongs. In addition to a trompone pin on the rear is a bail through which you can thread a chain. The gold is marked for metal fineness (14K) but no maker's mark. This brooch dates to approximately 1965-1975.
This uniquely lovely piece ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the nephrite is untreated.
