Genuine Turquoise: Turquoise is an opaque blue-to-green mineral, technically a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminum. The rarest and most beautiful is the robin’s egg blue variety from the now-defunct Sleeping Beauty mine in Arizona. Turquoise is a staple of Native American jewelry and some of it is highly collectible and rare. Some varieties of turquoise, like Kingman Turquoise, display black spiderweb veins (referred to as matrix).
