About the Item

Winner of the 1989 Pritzker Architecture Prize and widely considered the most influential and important architect of our time, Frank Gehry created a line of jewelry with Tiffany & Co. in 2006, the only artist to partner with the legendary jeweler since 1980 when they began their relationship with Pablo Picasso's daughter, Paloma Picasso. The jewelry line consisted of six distinct collections: Torque, Orchard, Fold, Fish, Equus and Axis. Offered here is a silver circular "Fish" pendant on its original rubber cord with silver clasp. This sterling silver Fish pendant is from the original issue, purchased on the day it was released in New York City. I cannot say why, but this is the most elusive piece from his relationship with Tiffany & Co. It has a very soft satin finish, has rarely been worn nor has it been dropped or otherwise dented. It has developed an oxidized patina over time, of course, but the rubber cord remains un-cracked and in working order, shiny as it was when it was new. In his relatively brief relationship with Tiffany & Co, the legendary icon of contemporary architecture came up with some wholly original and out-of-the-box creations. This simple pendant has complex lines and angles. It's a sculpture you can wear. It would be a fantastic present for someone graduating from architecture college. Or for yourself, if you are an admirer of Mr. Gehry's iconic works like the the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Walt Disney Concert Hall, or his own wildly eccentric and now iconic house in Santa Monica. Here is a difficult-to-find treasure at a very reasonable price.

Condition:
Wear consistent with age and use. I bought the necklace on release day but never wore it. However, I stored it on various shelves over many years so the silver has a patina and fine scratches. Easily buffed to new. Rubber cord round, un-damaged, un-worn.
