Jadeite Jade 18K Gold Pi Disc Pendant
About the Item
A natural jadeite jade bi disc pendant created in an 18 karat yellow gold frame. The jade is rich and has a beautiful translucent mottled apple green and white color. The center of the jade disc features an 18 karat gold ring.
Traditions associate the bi or pi with heaven and the cong with earth. Pi discs are consistently found with celestial and earth-like imagery, suggesting that the circular shape of the disc also has symbolic meaning. They were used in worship and ceremonies - as ceremonial items, they symbolized the ranks of Emperor, King, Duke, Marquis, Viscount and Baron.
The jade disc is in very good condition and of high quality. It measures 2.8 centimeters in diameter without bail. The pendant weighs 8.62 grams. The pendant comes without the chain.
The pendant will be gift-wrapped in a black and gold jewelry box.
