About the Item

Swan shaped convertible pendant brooch. A beautiful convertible pendant brooch, made in Israel back in the late 1960's. Crafted with in the shape of a swan in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. Embellished with applications of vivid blue enamel over a guilloche surface. Fitted with hooks to wear as a pendant in a chain and a hinged horizontal bar with a mechanical lock to wear as a brooch The Swan Swans are often a symbol of love or fidelity because of their long-lasting, apparently monogamous relationships. See Wagner's famous swan-related operas Lohengrin and Parsifal. In literature and myth, the swan symbolizes light, purity, transformation, intuition, grace. In Ancient Greece the swan stood for the soul and was linked to Apollo, the god of the Sun, whereas in other religions, the swan became a feminine symbol of the moon. Sapphires: Mount in flush millegrain setting, with 73 round faceted cut of natural blue sapphires, with 5.16 carats. Diamonds: The tips of the wings are mount in a flush setting, with 12 European round cut diamonds, 0.36 carats, white colorless G color, SI clarity. Birthstone: Sapphires for the month of September.
