"Mucha Mermaid II" Bijou Médaille in 18K Gold & Diamond on Aquamarine Necklace

About the Item
This lovely little lady -- archetypal Art Nouveau down to her flowing hair and faraway stare -- is a classic image you'll see on many accessories from the early 1900's with no particular attribution. We first became acquainted when she showed up on a stickpin that we acquired in 2021 in a lot of early 20th century stock from a liquidated San Francisco jewelry store. We converted the stickpin to a pendant, but before we did, we made a few castings in 18 karat gold.
This one is accented with a tiny, bright and clean full-cut white diamond (earth-mined and untreated, of course). We added a custom bale with a "hairy" wavy pattern to match our girl's flowing locks.
The inside of the bale measures roughly 5mm x 3mm and will accommodate most chain hardware. We like the delicate light blue of our aquamarine chain, strung on golden yellow thread to warm up the blue a bit. The beads are 2.5mm and the total length of the chain is 17". The closure is a vintage clip in 14 karat gold.*
Measurements: The disc is 12mm in diameter. With the bale, the total length is 21mm. The diamond is 1.5mm.
Weights: The pendant weighs 2.1 grams. With the chain, the total weight of the necklace is 7.1 grams. The diamond weight is just over 0.01 carats.
