Pellini Italy Gilt Metal Necklace with Memphis Multicolor Lucite Pendant

About the Item

This gorgeous Donatella Pellini Italy choker necklace features a modernist design. The gilded metal multi-chain choker shape is ornate with a massive oval pendant with Memphis style flair and has a lobster closing clasp with a small chain for length flexibility. The pendant is made of resin or Lucite in a multicolor laminated textured pattern over a dark green background. The piece boasts red, white, purple, dark red, yellow, and army green colors. The necklace is signed at the clasp with the brand signature tiny gilded bead engraved Pellini. The necklace is in excellent condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. Measurements: The necklace's total length is 18.32 in long (46.5 cm) - The drop is 11.82 in long (30 cm) - The pendant is 2 in wide x 3.94 in high (5.1 x 10 cm). Note: In 1947, Emma Caimi Pellini founded her atelier. After studying at the Brera Fine Arts Academy in 1950, Emma participated in the Triennale in Milano, winning the Second and Third Prizes at the Imitation of the Jewelry exhibition. In 1951, Saks in New York invited her to display her work in the prestigious 5th Avenue store. In 1964, her daughter Carla took over the atelier in Palazzo Belgiojoso, where the showroom and press office still are. In the family atelier, Donatella learns the art of jewelry and reinterprets it with a contemporary vision. In the 1980s, she started displaying her jewelry collections of plexiglass, PVC, and rhodoid at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Ave in New York and Neiman Marcus in Dallas and Los Angeles. In the 1990s, she collaborated with Italian, French, and American fashion designers. Donatella became known in the fashion world for her experimentation with resin, which is still the main character of the brand. In 2000, the company inaugurated Donatellapellini, a semiprecious stone collection that combines modern techniques with ancient craft traditions. Today, Donatella Pellini shares her days with an expert team who have assimilated the company culture and carried on the tradition with experience and passion. (Credit: Pellini website)

The fashion is designed with a post-apocalyptic era in mind. Steampunk fashion encompasses clothing, hairstyling, jewelry, body modification, and make-up. In 2010, steampunk style entered the high-end fashion market as designer John Galliano brought elements from the trend to his spring haute couture show for Christian Dior. Another designer associated with the steampunk style is Jean Paul Gaultier, who, from the 1990s, integrated elements of this current into his fashion and jewelry collections.
