A charming vintage 18k yellow gold and enamel elephant charm with colorful plique-a-jour background circa 1950. The charm has French hallmarks. The elephant has its trunk held up which is a symbol of good luck. The charm is double sided, so the enamel is on the elephant on both sides. The elephant appears to stand in front of a palm tree with the sun setting in the background. The colorful glass set in the gold (like a stained glass window) completes the colorful sunset. The charm is 1 inch in diameter. This is a rare charm.
