Silver Trinket Box with Chinese Scene, Late 19th-Early 20th Century
About the Item
A heavy silver box with canted corners, the hinged cover in the style of an ancient traditional woodcut featuring a Chinese traveling figure or salesman wearing a hat a walking stick in one hand, the other leading his horse from a rope burdened with baskets approaching a porch surrounded by trees. The sides decorated with ribbing, with a smooth polished silver base. The box opens to reveal two vacant compartments.
