2 Antique Viennese Enamel Silver & Rock Crystal Spoons by Hermann Ratzersdorfer

About the Item

A rare pair of Renaissance Revival Vienna silver, enamel and rock crystal spoons. Marked for Hermann Ratzersdorfer. Each with an elaborate gilt and enameled silver handle set with a carved rock crystal bowl. Hallmarked to the reverse with an Austrian mark for .900 fineness, Vienna, and HR for Hermann Ratzersdorfer. Each varying slightly in size: The longer spoon at 135 mm. Simply top-shelf examples of Viennese enamels! Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: They are in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is a fissure with staining and scratches to one bowl. The other bowl has what appear to be natural inclusions. Both bowls appear to have been re-secured in the silver handles at one point. There is some rubbing to the gold and some minor losses in enamel throughout. Otherwise, there is some light edge wear, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Hermann Ratzersdorfer Marks: Each hallmarked to the reverse with an Austrian mark for .900 fineness, Vienna, and HR for Hermann Ratzersdorfer.
