About the Item
“OCEANA” Stingray Champagne and Wine Stemware
“Oceana” was designed and hand crafted by multi award-winning jeweller Paul Amey in Australia. Stamped with his registered makers mark and precious metal marks. “Oceana” was designed and completed with over 260 hours labour. All stem and base components are masterfully handcrafted by Paul Amey with no casting or 3D imaging used. Diamond and stone settings were all carried out by Paul Amey. The added feature of this stemware are the interchangeable Champagne and Red Wine bowls specially designed by Paul Amey.
“Oceana” was a finalist in the 3rd Australian Jewellery Design Awards in the category of “Art Piece” in October 2019.
Crafted from 18K yellow gold (71.6 grams) and platinum, 109 diamonds equalling 5.73ct and featuring natural pink coral and keshi Broome pearls. Diamonds adorn the yellow gold with platinum overlay stem and base decoration of stemware with a stingray motif amongst the seaweed pattern with a solid yellow gold rim around the foot of the glass.
“Oceana” showcases 2 principal diamonds:
1 x 65pt pear shaped G SI1, GIA Certificate and
1 x 51pt, E SI2, 5.11 - 5.13 x 3.16mm Certificate.
The stemware also displays 6 x 15pt F SI round diamonds, 10 x 8pt F SI round diamonds, 10 x 5pt F SI round diamonds, 1 x 3pt F SI round diamond, 73 x 1pt round white diamonds (used for the bubbles) and
2 x 1pt colour enhanced green diamonds for the stingray's eyes.
The stemware is housed in a custom walnut and maple wood box with brass trim.

Paul Amey Jeweller
PAUL AMEY is an ARTIST, DESIGNER, MASTER GOLDSMITH and a fellow of the Gold & Silversmiths Guild of Australia. Paul Amey was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia with one grandfather a watchmaker, the other a jeweller. Jewellery was obviously in his blood! Paul has been a designer and manufacturing jeweller for over 50 years and is well renowned for his work in creating and producing beautiful high-quality jewellery with a dramatic flair completely by hand. Paul is still passionate about designing and producing special pieces. “I have fun with jewellery and so should customers - I give people choices they don’t get from other jewellers.” Paul has seen a great number of design changes and influences come and go, but he says “the fundamentals have always remained the same skilful design, excellent craftsmanship and an attention to detail.” Like the masters of old, using time-honoured techniques, he is creating modern masterpieces. “Each custom piece is crafted completely by hand, no computers, no mass production. My pieces are absolute original works of art, whether they be made from silver, gold or platinum.” Paul has a strong desire and flair for dramatic pieces, an early example being the making of the perpetual Western Australian Gold Swan Award. Also in recognition of his hand craftsmanship was the acceptance of his work by Sotheby's under its Art Category and recently being the recipient of two Precious Metal Awards.
