Victorian Buckle Memorial Ring 18 Karat Gold

About the Item

A pristine 18 Kt buckle ring with graphic gold letters that say "In Memoriam" inscribed in 1865 yet honors a Georgian Woman. It is sincerely touching to hold a ring that honors a. woman who lived 290 year ago! Sarah Withington died at age 85, a grand age for a Georgian woman. I feel like an archeologist who dug up a long buried treasure. Sarah's loved one who chose this ring knew well the meaning of the buckle. Two people cinched together, united to become one. When we wear this ring, or any memento more, we honor our own or the spirit of another who lived, laughed and loved as we do now. . We carry Sarah's spirit forward. We wonder what happens to us when we die. We are told that our spirit lives on. Here is an example of a spirit that we can carry forward. This is soothing at a time when we hear news that causes us to question human kindness. We hold lives in our hands. We have the power to reach out and care for another. We this ring we care for Sarah and are keepers of her story and of history. The ring is in excellent condition. There have been no touch ups or repairs./ It is size 7 1/2. Not sizable. Weight 8.7 grams. Extremely beautiful

Victorian 18 Karat Gold and Enamel Mizpah Ring
Located in Stamford, CT
In striking contrast, this Mizpah ring was created c. 1870 in 18 Kt gold. In striking contrast with no wear, the word Mispah is raised in gold letters on a darker gold background. The borders are scalloped. A gold daisy is at the middle of the word. Mizpah is from the Hebrew bible meaning watchtower. The loose translation is May God Watch over you while we are apart. The word connotes a deep emotional relationship between two people. The added sentiment of the daisy is "think of me" which all Victorians recognized from the language of flowers. A beautiful ring of sentient and dedication. A perfect wedding band...
