Belle Époque Natural Pearl and Diamond Ring
About the Item
A Belle Époque natural pearl and diamond ring, to the centre a button-shaped pearl measuring 6.8 x 5.1mm, accompanied by GCS Report 79217-37 stating to be natural of saltwater origin, surrounded by old-brilliant and swiss-cut diamonds, to split shoulders set with small swiss-cut diamonds, the diamonds estimated to weigh 0.85 carats in total, all millegrain-set in platinum mount, bearing French platinum hallmark and indistinct maker’s mark, circa 1915, the head measuring approximately 1.5 x 1.8cm, finger size H, gross weight 3.9 grams.
This ring is in fine condition. Marked and tested as platinum.
This superb French diamond and pearl ring comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. It features a gorgeous and luminescent natural pearl to the centre of an openwork diamond surround. The diamonds are lively and have a wonderful sparkle to them, complementing the pearl perfectly. The shoulders are split and set with further glittering diamonds. This elegant ring is emblematic of the feminine and exquisite styles of the Belle Époque, or early twentieth century, when this piece was made.
