Edwardian Natural Pearl and Diamond Navette-Shaped Ring
About the Item
A Belle Epoque natural pearl and diamond navette-shaped ring, the pearl measuring 6.9-7.0 x 4.8mm accompanied by GCS Report stating to be natural of saltwater origin, centrally-set to an openwork old-cut diamond-set plaque, to pierced gallery and diamond-set shoulders, diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 1.7 carats, all set in platinum and gold, circa 1900, head measuring 3.4x1.4 cm, gross weight 7.2grams.
This ring is in very good condition. Unmarked, tested as platinum and 18ct gold.
This stunning Belle Epoque ring is from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Edwardian jewellery is characterized by the use of openwork platinum set with diamonds and pearls, and this ring exemplifies that style. The delicate openwork navette plaque glitters with lovely old-cut diamonds, and the central natural pearl glimmers with subtle luminosity. Navette rings are incredibly flattering on the finger: their pointed oval shape has an elongating effect when worn. This is a gorgeous, romantic piece.
