Opal and Diamond Cluster Ring
About the Item
An early 20th century opal and diamond cluster ring, the oval cabochon cut opal measuring approximately 10.7 x 9mm claw set to the centre of an old cut diamond surround, estimated to weigh 0.7 carats in total, in white rub over setting to a yellow gold mount with chenier gallery, circa 1900, later hallmarked 18ct gold London, the head measuring approximately 1.5 x 1.3cm, gross weight 3.78 grams.
This ring is in very good condition, the opal bearing small abrasion consistent with the age of the piece.
A lovely opal and diamond ring. This piece was made in around 1900 and is emblematic of the transition between Victorian and Edwardian jewellery. The central blue-hued opal glows with an array of gorgeous colours. Surrounding the opal is a frame of glittering diamonds, which add eye-catching sparkle to this piece. The stones are set to a yellow gold band. This beautiful antique ring comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and makes an elegant and romantic statement.
