About the Item

One of the most spectacular and finest quality sapphires on the market today, and perhaps a rarity equal to none. This fine sapphire is of un-proportional magnitude, weighing approximately 30.00 carats. Its quality is incomparably stunning; the dimensions of the stone are listed on the certificate as 17.16x15.78x11.70 millimeters. The exact weight as listed on the certificate is 29.12 carats, and the stone is a remarkable Cushion cut -- considered to be one of the most elegant and timeless gemstone cuts. It comes in a diamond cluster ring that helps to nicely accent it. The ring is solid platinum, consisting of the Ceylon Sapphire, surrounded by a row of round brillant cut colorless diamonds having a total weight of 5.65 carats.

Despite its aesthetic beauty, this sapphire has quite the pedigree. Two of the most important aspects of this sapphire are as follows: it is of Ceylon origin (Ceylon being the region of Sri Lanka where it originated), and that there are no indications of heat enhancement, which make the stone infinitely rarer, more sought after and valuable. Sapphires are mined from many different areas of the Earth: Australia, Madagascar, even America among others. However, Ceylon sapphires are some of the most sought after sapphires in the world because of their quality of color, a beautiful cornflower blue. In addition to its Ceylon origin and impeccable size, it is unheated. Statistically 99% of all sapphires are chemically treated by a process called heating in order to enhance their color. To find an unheated sapphire in general is quite rare, but to find a sapphire of Ceylon origin at a weight of 29.50 carats and unheated is truly a rarity that only a hand-full of people across the globe will ever have the privilege to come across throughout their entire lives.
