Sapphire/Diamond 14kt Ring - Estate
About the Item
An estate piece originally purchased about 30 years ago at the Famous Brimfield Antique Show. Center stone was removed and replaced with a 71pt round dark blue sapphire - reminiscent of those to be found in older jewelry. Diamonds are fairly large, eye clean and white and we have estimated them to weight 3/4ct total. Stamped 14k and there is another mark which seems to be GP which is most likely the initials of the manufacturer - it can be difficult to stamp the inside of rings so frequently marks are not that clear, and this included the 14kt mark in this case, but under the right lights and angle, this is what can be read.
We are known for our fine quality colored gemstones but do custom jewelry for our customers and sometimes offer items, like this, that we have purchased at times.
Estimated to be a size 7, but can be easily be sized by a local jewelry store. At that time also, it can be buffed and cleaned so that it appears as New!

The owner of All That Glitters has been to this location and UNESCO Site a number of times. Obtaining the more common yellow Topaz is difficult enough, but the more rare orangy, apricot, peach, purply or even red is far more rare and quite expensive. When this uniquely shaped, bright, wonderfully colored (color varies under different lighting conditions and the flashes will also vary producing an aesthetically pleasing play of color/light/sparkle), it was a gemstone that was destined for the All That Glitters Collection. Once in the collection, Derek Katzenbach of Maine (gemstone cutter and jewelry designer - multi-award winning one too!), a person whom we have known for many years, was contacted to work his magic and create something unique - and this piece is the result of many months of designing/creating. We entered it into the AGTA's (American Gem Trade Association) Annual Spectrum Awards Contest for Jewelry upon completion.
