The Monkey Ring-in-a-Ring is a statement ring by Bibi van der Velden, using a technique she developed that allows you to open the bottom of the bigger ring to remove a smaller ring inside. The big ring, depicting playful monkeys and palm trees, is comprised of 18k rose gold and sterling silver, set with diamonds and Tsavorites. The inner ring is a cheeky banana, made of 18k yellow, rose and pure white gold. This ring is a true conversation piece, filled with fun surprises! The inner ring can be worn on it's own, hidden within the bigger ring, or both rings worn separately! Ring can be fit to size* Bibi’s Monkey Collection captures the sleek movement and form of these endlessly fascinating animals. The collection, crafted in 18k rose gold, sterling silver, and brown and white diamonds, depicts sweet monkeys in a jungle setting, amidst lemon quartz bananas and lush, green tsavorite-embellished palm leaves. Whether grasping onto lemon quartz bananas on a pair of earrings or clambering around an ornate cocktail ring, Bibi crafts monkeys into truly captivating pieces of jewellery, whose level of detail and intricate design make a playful statement. The creator of this piece, Bibi van der Velden, believes that jewellery should imbue the wearer with energy, with her pieces offering a playful, personal, and highly artistic take on fine jewellery. This personal touch comes from a jewellery-making process that’s grounded in traditional craftsmanship. Working with sustainable and unexpected materials, among them 60,000-year-old mammoth tusk, ostrich eggs, and scarab wings, Bibi hand-sketches and hand-carves each piece in wax. Bibi describes her jewellery pieces as “miniature sculptures.”
