Art Deco 1.19 Carat Old Mine Cut Diamond Ring
About the Item
This antique piece was handcrafted sometime during the Art Deco design period ( 1920-1940 ). The setting is 18k white gold and features quite a few enchanting Art Deco design elements. The center diamond is an old mine cut measuring approximately 1.19 Carats. The diamond grades approximately J in color and SI1 in clarity. What is an old mine cut diamond? Old mine cut diamonds often resemble modern cushion cut diamonds; more perhaps a cross between an old european cut diamond and an antique cushion cut diamond. Old mine cut diamonds were cut by hand using another diamond among other cutter's tools. This 18k white gold setting is absolutely exemplary; featuring subtle but intricate filigree, fine hand engravings, and milgrain accents. The setting also features 6 round diamond accents as well as six tiny french cut blue sapphire accents. Blue sapphires were very popular for use in Art Deco wedding rings as it was symbolic of fidelity, loyalty, and trust during this time period. This ring is currently a size 5 & 1/2.
