About the Item

Diamond solitaires have been a favourite choice for engagement rings since the late 19th century. Symbolically, they convey the sentiment of having found 'the one' – and this sentiment grows ever more apparent when the diamond to express it is as individual as the beloved. Unlike modern, laser-cut brilliants that follow a standardized pattern, antique diamonds have been cut by hand, under careful individual consideration of their qualities. Whilst today, colour and clarity are arguably the most looked-for qualities in a diamond, antique diamonds have rather been valued for their brilliance and fire. The diamond at hand possesses these two in abundance, combined with a very good cut and proportions. At 3.99 ct, its facets are large and clear, reflecting the light and breaking it up into a rainbow of colours. The diamond is presented in an elegant platinum setting, set with smaller diamonds and decorated with millegrain. In its geometrical design, the ring shows the typical, now iconic features of mid-1920s Art Déco. Angular tapered steps on the ring shoulders lead to the centre, framing the large old European cut diamond. With no unnecessary ornament obstructing the view, the ring remains timeless despite its age; a one-of a kind piece to frame a one-of-a-kind diamond.
