A Fede Ring Conveying Love And Loyalty 18th Century

About the Item

Yellow gold featuring two intertwined rings, each topped by a hand, meeting in the closed position. One ring is set with a rose-cut diamond. Probably 18th-century Anglican work. Finger size: 6 1/4 - Gross weight: 7.57 g The symbolism of the joined right hands goes back to Roman Antiquity and was then known as dextrarum iunctio.In Roman times, the joining of the right hands by a betrothed couple was a sign of loyalty and marked the conclusion of a marriage contract.
